Tasting Notes

POSH (Port Out, Starboard Home) - new release

This single-grape port permits the distinctive fruit flavors to shine through allowing the wine to be served with many food pairings. Ours is a full-bodied Ruby Port styled wine bringing plum, raisins and blackberry to your taste buds. (8% RS)

Port Out, Starboard Home (or Port Outward, Starboard Home) is a phrase popularly believed to provide the etymology for the word posh. According to this belief, "Port Out" and "Starboard Home" were the most desirable cabin locations on ships traveling to and from British colonies in the Far East before the development of air conditioning, because they were shaded from the sun in both directions. Junkyard Red NV

It is a very smooth red wine that is ready to drink immediately after opening. No need to lay it down.  It is ready.  Low in acids but strong in flavor.  This will surprise many when they hear what the five wine grapes are.

Mercantile Red NV

A blend of Cabernet Franc (45%), Merlot (43%), & Syrah (12%). This Red Table wine starts off with just a touch of the earthy characteristics from the Cabernet Franc, in combination with the Syrah, followed by the smooth finish from the Merlot. With the sturdy and dusty tannins, I suggest a big steak or flavorful pasta dish to match with this wine

2005 Syrah

Big and intense is how we like our Syrahs. We want the great fruit flavors that the Yakima Valley has, to come through. Aged in 100% Hungarian oak pungeons for a period of 30 Months. A mature and complex wine is only achieved threw patience and intuition, caress your palate with this supple syrah that drowns in it’s own elegance.. Think steak or even pepperoni pizza for this wine.

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon

Our cab is very approachable being rich, hearty and complex. Match this with red meat dishes, particularly steaks and chops. Fruit forward and light on the tannins.

2006 Merlot

Starts out with lush fruit flavors and matching aromas.  Considered to be on the light and fruity range for merlot.  Ending with a silky smooth finish.  Ready to drink with your favorite meal.

2007 Chenin Blanc

From late spring to early fall indulge yourself in an amazing treat. Savor the taste of passion fruit, apricot, dried pineapple, tart green apple (Granny Smith) and strawberry. Make sure you serve chilled to bring out these great flavors. (2% RS)

2007 Gewurztraminer

Spicy and crisp (the German word for spice is Gewurz), with a bouquet that pleases the palate. Works well when pairing with game and strong flavored casseroles. Enjoy young but will age well. (RS-3%)

2008 Pinot Grigio – Chardonnay

A blend of Pinot Grigio (50%) and Chardonnay (50%) co-fermented to create a crisp white wine. The nose starts off with a citrus aroma that leads into a crisp green apple. Once in the mouth the wine gives off a subtle pear flavor with good acidity through the finish. Would pair this wine with green salads, seafood, and chicken.

2007 Riesling

Pale yellow green, clean, with light floral and fruit aromas suggesting white grapefruit, green apples, off-dry flavors; crisp, tart, racy balance; smooth with a long finish. (RS-3%)

2007 Black Muscat

A semi-sweet wine with the true Muscat flavors coming through. These grapes come from vines that are more than 50 years old, from the Upland Vineyards in Sunnyside. With the residual sugars (RS) of 3.8% and great acidity this wine is very approachable and perfect for those do anything, anywhere occasions. Enjoy it on a picnic or in the hot tub

2007 Chardonnay

Non oaked, bringing out the true flavor of this magnificent grape with an appley, fruit forward taste.  This grape is known for it’s acids but shows just a touch of RS even though we considered it Dry.

Twilight Harvest

A late harvest Gewürztraminer.  As close as we can come to an Ice Wine without being one. A crisp, fruity wine bursting with floral aromas and a touch of spice.  A wonderful addition for your after dinner enjoyment. (RS 9.5%)
