Tasting Notes
Red Wines
Tango
50% Malbec, one of the great varietals that is the number one grape in the Mendoza Valley of Argentina and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, needing no introduction. Two grapes producing a wine with classy character causing you to have the strange desire to order a Steak, ask for Chimichurri , and dance the night away, while speaking a language you do not understand.
2010 Merlot
Grapes from the Mattawa region makes for a bit higher Alcohol reading just over 14%. Less tannins then a Cab. allows this wine to be considered Fruit Forward, ready to drink now, but will improve with age.
Carmenére - New release coming soon
Much like merlot this grape is lower in tannins making for a smooth dinner wine. You will notice many different taste sensations from blackberry to many exotic flavors making it a wine that can match with a greater range of foods. Ask us about its interesting history.
Junkyard Red NV
It is a very smooth red wine that is ready to drink immediately after opening. No need to lay it down. It is ready. Low in acids but strong in flavor. This will surprise many when they hear what the five wine grapes are. Merlot-30%, Syrah- 28.6%, Cabernet Franc -18.5%, Tempranillo-12.9%, and Cabernet Sauvignon.-10%.
Mercantile Red NV
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 25% Syrah. This Red Table wine starts off with just a touch of the earthy characteristics from the Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by the smooth finish from the Merlot and Syrah. With the sturdy and dusty tannins, I suggest a big steak or flavorful pasta dish to pair with this wine.
2008 Syrah
Big and intense is how we like our Syrah. We want the great fruit flavors that the Columbia Valley has, to come through. Aged in oak barrels from grapes grown in the Wahluke Slope, makes for a mature and complex wine, with slightly more Alcohol then in the past due to the hotter climate. Think steak or even pepperoni pizza for this wine.
White Wines
2009 Pinot Grigio – Chardonnay
A blend of Pinot Grigio (50%) and Chardonnay (50%) co-fermented to create a crisp white wine. The nose starts off with a citrus aroma that leads into a crisp green apple. Once in the mouth the wine gives off a subtle pear flavor with good acidity through the finish. Would pair this wine with green salads, seafood, and chicken.
2008 Riesling
Pale yellow green, clean, with light floral and fruit aromas suggesting white grapefruit, green apples, off-dry flavors; crisp, tart, racy balance; smooth with a long finish. (RS-3%)
Try some delicious food pairings with our Riesling
2009 Chardonnay
Non-oaked, bringing out the true flavor of this magnificent grape with an appley, fruit forward taste. This grape is known for it’s acids but shows just a touch of RS even though we consider it Dry.
Dessert Wines
POSH (Port Out, Starboard Home)
This single-grape port styled wine, made with 100% Tempranillo Grapes, permits the distinctive fruit flavors to shine through allowing the wine to be served with many food pairings. Ours is a full-bodied Ruby Port styled wine bringing plum, raisins and blackberry to your taste buds. (8% RS)
Port Out, Starboard Home (or Port Outward, Starboard Home) is a phrase popularly believed to provide the etymology for the word posh. According to this belief, "Port Out" and "Starboard Home" were the most desirable cabin locations on ships traveling to and from British colonies in the Far East before the development of air conditioning, because they were shaded from the sun in both directions.
