It Takes Two to TANGO ... even at Piety Flats Winery!

How did we come up with the name Tango for our new vintage ?

The story goes ... Kris and I had been to Argentina.  Malbec is the primary red grape in that country, mostly grown in the hot district of Mendoza.

We love Malbec on it’s own and wanted to create a Piety Fats Wine that was a blend of Malbec and a great Washington-grown grape, to keep the price down for our customers. The Malbec grape is relatively rare in Washington, at this point in time, and would be coming to us at a steeper price then a more common variety.

By blending the Malbec we can average our cost out with the other blend that is more prevalent.  So putting a grape from Argentina with a Washington-grown Cabernet Sauvignon (grown on the hot Wahluke Slope in the Columbia Valley AVA), the new wine just had to be called Tango because it always ...

Takes Two to Tango.

Tasting Notes

50% Malbec, one of the great varietals that is the number one grape in the Mendoza Valley of Argentina and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, needing no introduction.  Two grapes producing a wine with classy character causing you to have the strange desire to order a Steak, ask for Chimichurri , and dance the night away, while speaking a language you do not understand.
